Eighth grade students are participating in a ten week project that will culminate in a permanent art installation in the new annex! Students are working with a teaching artist and focusing on portraiture, mixed media exploration, and concepts of identity. This project is funded through Ingenuity and is part of the Creative Schools Fund Grant (with 10,000 dollars awarded to the school). Stay tuned for more information!
Seventh Grade students in 030 are participating in a grant project through Intuit Outsider Gallery. Students were able to visit the gallery and the Art Institute on a field trip earlier this year. They will soon begin working on mixed media projects with a focus on constructions of beauty, gender and identity. Their artwork will be featured in the gallery as part of a larger exhibition in May!
Advanced Art Club will continue on Wednesdays for the second half of the school year. There will also be a Fibers/Textiles Club added after school on Thursdays.
Congratulations to room 030 on their Valentine's Day Door Decorating Contest win! See the 7th Grade Art page for images.
